Why is The Lounge at The Westin Tokyo surrounded by marble columns and greenery?

The Westin Tokyo opened in 1994 alongside Yebisu Garden Place. Designed with traditional Western architectural influences, the hotel has evolved along with the surrounding Ebisu neighborhood. Its lobby lounge, The Lounge, is distinguished by an atrium supported by marble columns and views of a garden beyond its windows.

In 2023, the hotel undertook its first major renovation since opening. Guided by the concept of Heritage and Reinvigoration, the redesign was led by A.N.D., a design team at Nomura Co. Inspiration came from the area's history, including the former beer brewery, underground water sources and surrounding greenery. The Lounge reopened on October 2 that year, blending traditional interiors with elements drawn from nature.

At Christmas, an approximately five-meter-tall tree adds to the lobby setting. That is why the marble columns, garden views and Christmas tree deserve attention alongside the pastries.
