What kind of hotel is Park Hyatt Tokyo?

It opened in July 1994 as the first Park Hyatt in Asia. It occupies the top 14 floors (39-52) of Shinjuku Park Tower, designed by Kenzo Tange, with interiors by John Morford.

The hotel became famous worldwide through Sofia Coppola's film Lost in Translation, and the New York Grill & Bar serves an L.I.T. cocktail inspired by it. In December 2025 the hotel announced its reopening after a 19-month renovation by Paris-based Studio Jouin Manku.

The renovation gave Peak Lounge, the countdown venue, a bar carved from a single block of Chelsea Grey marble and eight lanterns, and added new Thai bamboo to the Golden Bamboo garden planted in 1994. You will see in the new year amid both the hotel's 30-year history and its new look.
